The below information is an honset, truthful review of my experience and expertise. I would never recommend a product I have not tried and that I do not find useful/safe to the consumer.
Why sleep is essential for overall health and wellbeing.
In today’s world, we are more overworked, exhausted and stressed than ever before. Anxious thoughts, racing minds and never-ending to-do lists keep us tossing and turning and only wishing for restful sleep.
This lack of sleep, however, is taking a toll on our overall health as a society.
Getting at least 7-8 hours of uninterrupted, restful sleep is ESSENTIAL for:
- Blood sugar regulation
- Weight management
- Hormone balance
- Muscle repair and recovery
- Immune function
- Controlling appetite and cravings
- Cognitive function, concentration and clarity
- Reaction and timing
- Rational decision making
- Overall mood
- …pretty much ALL bodily functions!
Yet, actually achieving this restful sleep seems like a far cry for many.
What is a personalized sleep formula?
I was recently introduced to a company called Remrise that develops personalized, natural sleep aids. I’m NOT a fan of the typical sleeping pills and over-the-counter sleep aids.
There is always an underlying cause to lack of sleep, and knocking yourself out with meds nightly is just a “bandaid over the bullet hole” solution.
A good quality melatonin is about as far as I go with sleep aid recommendations, however if not taken appropriately, it can cause grogginess and have the opposite effect than intended.
Remrise creates formulas using all 100% plant-based ingredients inspired by both eastern and western medicine – it’s drug free and powered by plants to holistically help improve your sleep. Not to mention, it’s completely vegan/vegetarian safe!
How does this process work? And does it actually work?
I was able to try the Remrise formula and run a little experiment on my sleep, and the results were actually impressive!
The first step was to take a sleep quiz that analyzes what might be keeping you awake (ie: do you toss and turn, wake up before the alarm, have trouble falling asleep, have anxious thoughts, vivid dreams, etc).
The quiz was more in-depth than I imagined it would be, which was impressive in and of itself.
Once I completed the quiz, I was given the personalized formula called “at ease” and it was shipped to my house.
What I didn’t realize was that the formula is actually different for each night, taking you through a cycle that goes beyond just a “one night fix”.
What was interesting and exciting for me, is that I have a sleep ring called the Oura Ring that tracks my sleep in depth (body temperature, heart rate, heart rate variability, REM sleep, deep sleep, light sleep, you name it…).
I was excited to compare the data from my ring to before/after starting my Remrise formula.
Here’s what happened:
- Time spent in both REM and deep sleep increased significantly (which is super important)
- Overall restfulness improved
- Amount of time it took to fall asleep each night (latency) decreased
- Resting heart rate while sleeping slightly decreased
- Decreased number of times waking up in the middle of the night
While that’s the data my ring collected, what I actually noticed was an overall sense of restfulness, better energy and fewer anxious thoughts when trying to fall asleep.
I have to be honest, I was impressed at the results as I expected only slight improvements if any at all, and I was proven wrong.
Is Remrise worth it?
If you haven’t gathered by now from my experiment that I highly recommend Remrise, allow this to be your “nudge”. If you’re having trouble with sleep, you may want to try taking the quiz to see where you fall and give Remrise a try for 1 month.
Besides, if after 2 weeks you don’t not an improvement, they’ll refund your money…so the risk is very minimal.
While I love this product, I always still recommend getting to the root of your sleep issues. Whether it’s rooted in anxiety, stress, overuse of caffeine or other hormonal imbalances/lifestyle factors, understanding the cause and aiming to change behavior is key.
It’s likely that whatever is causing your sleep issues is disrupting more than just your sleep. So you can help ease the symptoms and get good sleep utilizing this product without having to worry about side effects, but you should still do the work in other areas to eliminate the problem.
