I am always on the lookout for clean, natural, and non-toxic products to use and recommend to my clients.

Nutrition goes way beyond the food we put in our mouths, and is everything from the things we put onto our skin, in our hair, and how we manage stress. I am interested in products that help to minimize the amount of toxins we take in to help optimize the metabolism. I focus on a balanced approach of the WHOLE self, not just food.

I was very excited to be given an opportunity to review products for a company called Ingenium Naturals, as their philosophies on clean products aligned with my own.

About Ingenium Naturals

Ingenium Naturals is a Canadian based company built on sound principles and with the consumer in mind. Their tagline is “Live Well! Live Healthy! Enjoy the Journey!”. Ingenium offers products ranging from skincare to essential oils, natural supplements, and luxury teas. Here is a quote from their website about the quality of their products:

“The ingredients used to manufacture Ingenium Naturals Inc. products are backed by many years of traditional and modern use, as well as scientific studies. Our manufacturing partners are as diligent and passionate about quality as we are, and we would not have it any other way! […] Our products are never tested on animals, and are among the safest products on the market today, for our customers and for the environment. Our personal care products are small-batch productions.”

I was excited to be able to review all three of Ingenium’s Wellness Teas. All of their teas are produced ethically and with a chemical free process, and picked at elevations up to 5500 feet above sea level. “In addition, all of our teas meet Japanese Agricultural Standards, as well as European Union Guidelines for freshness and purity, and all guidelines for organic farming and production. These standards both exceed USDA standards.”

An important quality to recognize about this tea is that the bags are sealed with heat, not wheat paste, making it naturally gluten free! Many teas that come in bags are sealed with a wheat paste, making them a sneaky source of gluten. This can be dangerous for those who have celiac or severe glutens sensitivity, so I am excited to be able to promote a tea that is safe and gluten free. I was also pleasantly surprised to learn that you can steep the tea up to 3 times and still get the full flavor and experience. Here are the three teas I was able to try and what I thought about each one:

Wellness Energizing Tea Blend $16.00 – “Invigorating and restorative”

wellness blend

This was the only tea that contained caffeine, and what I liked about it was that it provided steady and balanced energy without any jitters or crash. When working with clients, I discuss caffeine use and how this affects our sleep cycles and adrenal health. This tea would be a perfect alternative to coffee for a steady energy boost without going overboard.

The flavors of this tea were wonderful, with a delightful lemon and mint flavor.

This tea is certified organic and does not contain any artificial flavors or colors.

Tea ingredients: Green mate, lemongrass + spearmint leaves, ginkgo + ginseng + nettle pieces, calendula + cornflower + sunflower petals

Wellness Digestion Herbal Blend $16.98 – “Sweet, exotic, and haunting with notes of fruit and a light spearmint finish”

digestion blend

This tea was my favorite of the three! The taste was fruity with a light spearmint aftertaste, making it a perfect after dinner tea. The peppermint helps to assist with digestion and can relieve gas by reducing spasms in the digestive tract. Spearmint relaxes the stomach muscles and relieves nausea (perfect for pregnant women who experience morning sickness). This tea also has a light chamomile flavor, helping to relax the body and unwind before bedtime.

This tea contains no caffeine, is certified organic, and does not contain any artificial flavors or colors.

Tea ingredients: Peppermint + spearmint leaves, honeybush, chamomile + hibiscus + calendula + rose + osmanthus petals

Wellness Tranquility Herbal Blend $18.95 – “Soothing and restful all-natural herbal blend”

tranquility blend

I am a huge promoter of taking time each day to do some sort of restorative practice or quiet reflection. I always recommend herbal and bedtime teas to clients as a way for them to wind down and relax before bed. This tea was perfect right before hitting the hay…it has a sweet chamomile and mild citrus flavor, and smells absolutely amazing which added to the tea’s calming effect.

Tea ingredients: Rooibos, chamomile, linden + passion flower petals, lemon balm + lemon verbena leaves, anise, cinnamon, orange pieces, oat straw and hops

Contains tea leaves from Egypt, South Africa, Bulgaria, Germany, Vietnam

Overall, I was extremely happy with the flavor and effects of each tea, and will definitely make these a pantry staple and recommend them to my clients. The flavor of each one was so wonderful that there is no need to add cream or sugar, a great way to cut down on unnecessary calories.
